WALES DEVELOPMENT ORIGIN MATCH
NORTH WALES ORIGIN RL ................... 24 SOUTH WALES IRONMEN RESERVES 42
A big match that will go a long way towards the development of professional players in North and South Wales debuted last Sunday in Deeside when a competitive North Wales Origin side, in their first ever game, were beaten 42-24 by South Wales Ironmen reserves.
Rhys Gant will be pushing for a place in the Ironmen’s first team squad after scoring four tries whilst Kade Breen, a native of Adelaide in Australia, scored a hat-trick. Tries from Brandon Lamb and Lloyd Selby-Smith completed matters for the away side whose score could have been higher save for Ben Jones’s offday with the boot, converting just two from seven. Chester Gladiators’ Ben Stellmyck scored a brace for North Wales with Thom Crossman, Tom Prydderch and Ben Wynne, all of whom hail from Flintshire Falcons, scoring one try each. Chester’s Damian Goss converted twice.
With the score at 30-12 at half-time to the Ironmen, North Wales did well to draw the second half.
