THE long journey by land, sea, air and yak brought the Colliers Cwtch from way down south to the rarefied atmosphere of the top of Twyn for a contest which saw the visitors flourish in a highly entertaining game.

G Jones, R Davies and H Lawrence took the opening triples with throw over Dean Moulds, Steve Hamer and A Price but the lead was short lived with Wayne Morgan, Dai Jones 118 and Trevor Jones holding over Owain Locke, P Beck 100 and J Bowcott 100 for a level game ahead of the pairs.

J Bowcott and Aaron Beck regained the lead for the Cwtch with vic- tory in the first pairs over Dean Moulds and Sean Price but back came the Farmers with Wayne Morgan and Dai Jones 100, beating J Watts and Heather Baker Beck for a 2-2 score.

The final pairs leg saw Owain Locke and G Wil- liams maintain the hold- of-throw theme with victory over Steve Hamer 100 and Gary Price earn- ing the visitors a 3-2 lead going into the matchdeciding singles encounters.

J Bowcott 2x100 extended the visitors’ lead with the first break of the match beating Dai Jones in the first singles for a 4-2 lead, but back came the home crew with Wayne Morgan 2x100 breaking P Beck 100 to trail 3-4.

H Lawrence then set the Colliers on the road to victory with a break over Sean Price making it 5-3 and then 6-3 followed with Jason Watts 2x140 in inspired form to beat Dean Moulds with a hold of throw.

G Williams extended the lead to 7-3 with a break against Gary Price with Aaron Beck 2x100 completing the victory with a hold over Steve Hamer in the final game of the match.
