Welcome to Sardis Road...

-

GRACE Reynolds, Assistant Media Officer with Pontypridd RFC, presents a weekly update of news and events from the Valleys’ premier rugby club.

Injury Update: “No news is good news” has been the case this season with regard to the injuries that have decimated the Pontypridd squad, but now and again a small glimmer of hope gives some encouragement.

Flanker Jake Thomas and centre Dafydd Lockyer have recently been added to the Sardis sick list with knee and groin problems respectively, both likely to be sidelined for the remainder of the current campaign.

On the plus side full back Geraint Walsh made a comeback appearance off the bench at Aberavon last Saturday, following a cameo role for Cilfynydd the previous weekend, and having been out with a fractured leg and a knee injury since the start of the season.

Two Ponty players have undergone surgery over the past week as part of their recovery.

Number 8 Dan Godfrey had been diagnosed with a non-rugby related neck condition and flanker Darren Waters having missed the entire season with knee ligament damage. Both have been under the knife, and the operations were carried out by Stuart James and Stuart Roy respectively, both highly qualified members of the Pontypridd RFC medical team.

Reports have already been received on Waters’ surgery, which was a success with the joint being classed as “good as new”.
