ORGANISERS are predicting a big turnout for this year’s Aberdare Park Road Race.

The Aberaman Motorcycle Club has confirmed that 2017’s race will be held on July 29 and 30.

Organisers hope more than 10,000 people will attend the event, which promises high-octane racing and family fun.

The first event was held on September 30, 1950.

As usual, this year’s course is at Aberdare Park. It is one-mile in length, and each race consists of eight laps.

For the third year in a row, Isle of Man TT racing star John McGuinness will return to the Cynon Valley, where he will parade, meet the public and offer autographs.

Fellow racing superstar Steve Plate has also confirmed to be attending. Plate, an Isle of Man TT veteran and 2009 British super-sport champion will parade, commentate and meet the public over the race weekend.

Derek Smith, chairman of event organisers Aberaman Motorcycle Club, said: “It’s going to be a great year. The park is our passion.

“The event brings a lot of money into the town and we always raise money for good causes.

“A lot of that is thanks to some of our great sponsors; people like GT Superbikes, Phil Morris Racing, JT’s Bridgend, GP Motorcycle Breakers, and so many others.

“We’ve got a great working relationship with the council and with the local government, and we hope that they’ll enjoy it too.

“It’s unique, it’s one of a kind and it brings a lot of excitement.”

The events start at 9am and there are nine events over the course of the two days.

The race order is decided and printed the night before.

A single day adult ticket costs £12, while a full weekend adult ticket costs £23. A single day family ticket is £25, while a single day child’s ticket is £5.

Tickets can be purchased on the day, or from www.aberdare-park-roadraces.co.uk/shop.html
