Stella’s back as cameras roll on the sixth series of TV show

STELLA’S back as filming for the new series has begun in the Valleys.

The show’s famous faces – Ruth Jones, Di Botcher and Remy Beasley, or as they’re better known, Stella, Aunty Brenda and Beyonce – have started shooting series six.

Elm Street in Ferndale has once again taken centre stage as Jones and her cast of Pontyberry residents return.

The Rhondda town – which has become as big a star as anyone in the cast – played host to actors, cameras and trailers on Monday as filming began.

Ruth Jones could be seen happily chatting away to residents and fans in between takes, as she once again took on the role of Stella Jackson.

Whetting fans’ appetites for the new run, Jones previously told us : “It’s going to be quite dramatic. There’ll be a significant revelation in this next series and we’re also going to meet Rob Morgan’s younger brother, which we are casting for at the moment.”

But the most exciting addition to Stella in series six will be the introduction of Aunty Brenda’s (Di Botcher ) mother – who will be a 99-year-old version of Brenda (we hope).

Jones spilled some beans on the new series while looking ahead to the Christmas special, which aired on December 23 last year.

In it a heavily pregnant Stella had to deal with Michael’s busybody sister, Valerie (Josie Lawrence), Luke’s refusal to deal with dad Rob’s death and, of course, there’s Mayor Aunty Brenda who took a visit from a delegation of Lapland very seriously.

As well as a important chapter coming to an end for Luke, there was also a whole host of familiar faces in the episode, including vintage Welsh comedian Mike Doyle, rugby legend and candle maker, Scott Quinnell, Frank Williams - who played vicar Timothy Farthing in Dad’s Army - and Gavin & Stacey’s Adrian Scarborough.

Series six of Stella will air later this year on Sky One.
