POLICE are investigating a gruesome scene left on a mountainside which left passers-by shocked and scared.

A “scarecrow” like mannequin with a decapitated ram’s head and testicles was spotted near Pontypridd at the weekend.

Resembling something out of a horror movie or an ancient pagan ritual, the scene was spotted by a horrified group of 4x4 drivers on Saturday.

A shirt on the mannequin read: “Bonkaz 4x4 who next.”

Mike Toseland from Bonkas4x4wales, was among the group who found the scene and said the message posed a “clear threat”.

He said: “It was positioned right in the middle of where we were driving and had a orange shirt on with a ram’s head stuck on the top of the spike and the testicles were at the bottom.

“It was very Godfatheresque and a clear statement. It’s a malicious act and very scary.

“The lads who came across it were shocked. It cannot properly be believed until you have actually seen it.”

The scene was found on a route between Penheol Ely Road in Coedpenmaen and Eglwysilan Common, near Llanbradach.

Mr Toseland claims his group have been targeted before.

He said: “Other incidents in the area have seen routes (used by the club) being blocked with dumped piles of rubble and manure, and more recently, the whole body of a dead sheep.”

A spokeswoman for South Wales Police said: “We are aware of the incident and liaising with our partners to investigate.”
