ANGLING

-

WITH perfect weather conditions, sunny but not too hot at Glyncornel Lake, Llwynypia, Rhondda, the club members had another sensational day’s fishing.

Ian Jones caught 18lb 11 oz to win using his holiday flies from the USA. His Louisiana Swamp Bug lure and his home made Yellow dusters and Electric Light Bulbs stole the day with fish after fish being caught by Ian.

Russell Hurley, another one of the club’s top fishermen, was using more traditional flies: green and white Cats Whiskers and orange Fritz’s and orange Whisky flies. Orange seemed to be the big colour on the day. Mike Tamplin came third with 15lb 6 oz mostly on orange flies. Dennis Akers our new member from Beddau who only joined last year, thanks to the club training with experienced members was neck and neck with the leaders all day. Ken Jones the club’s oldest member with 15lb was unlucky not to win the contest on the day, catching an 8lb 8 oz trout early on.

All the weights were over 10lb down to below 10th place. It was an amazing day’s fishing at the lakeside.

All the members are eagerly awaiting the next competition.

If you wish to join the club a few places are still available, we will be closing the books shortly. Contact the chairman on 01443 432289 between 3pm and 8pm or visit our website for more information: www.flyfishing-glyncornel.com
