A WOMAN revealed the bizarre name given to her by her dad “for a laugh” when she appeared on BBC quiz show Pointless – Holly May Jasmine Gillingham Football Club Gould.

Holly, an air hostess, was a contestant on the teatime show hosted by Alexander Armstrong and Richard Osman on Tuesday and Wednesday.

And it was while chatting to the hosts, she revealed her full name.

She was supposed to be given the more usual name of Holly May Jasmine but said her father had added the name of his local football team as a joke.

Holly, from Aberdare, explained: “My dad went to register me. I was supposed to be Holly Mae Jasmine, and I think he just put in ‘Gillingham Football Club’ for a laugh.”

An astounded Alastair asked her: “Do you have all those initials on...?” She replied: “Yeah, on certain things like my passport, they can only fit GFC, but I like to fill it out on most documents just so people ask me really.” “It passes the time really, doesn’t it,” responded Alexander.

Asking her about her full name, fellow host Richard said: “Every now and again when we have our introductions from our people, something is raised which we have to address immediately. I would say Holly’s name needs to be addressed immediately.

“I wonder if it’s showboating on her part or showboating on her parents’ part. Something is definitely up.”

Her sister Jordan Angharad Gould, a mid- wife who was competing alongside her, said: “I dodged the bullet.”

On Tuesday’s show, the sisters got down to the final head to head round, but ultimately missed out on winning the Pointless trophy.

But on Wednesday they did manage to walk away with the jackpot of £1,250 – even after mixing up Dominican Republic and the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

When asked for their answer for ‘any country that begins or ends with the letter D’, the pair opted for the “Dominican Republic of Congo”.

Asked what they would do with the jackpot, Holly said: “I would probably like to treat my mum to a nice holiday. She’s done a lot for us.”

Sister Jordan said: “I would probably put it towards splurging on something really expensive like a pair of shoes or a handbag.”

Their incorrect answer was balanced out when they answered The Departed for ‘Best Picture Oscar Winners That Contain the Letter D’, meaning they went home with the jackpot.
