THIS woman has only been running her Cynon Valley slimming group for a few years, but already has hundreds of members and multiple inspiring success stories.

Julie Cook launched the Penrhiwceiber Slimming World Group in 2014 with 42 members, but now her six classes a week, which are held at the Miskin Baptist Church, are attended by around 200 people hoping to shed the pounds.

Three of those are “diamond” members – meaning they have achieved their target weight and kept to it for two years. Paula Edwards is one of those, and said: “I joined Julie’s Class in September 2014 and with Julie’s friendly professional approach, I’ve managed to lose 4st 1lb, and successfully reached my goal weigh of 9st.

“I would like to thank Julie for all her help and effort she puts in as a consultant.”

The group’s other success stories include Rachel Prosser, who joined Slimming World in May 2014 and reached her target weight in May 2015 after losing 4st 3lb, and has maintained her target for over two years.

The third, Cheryl Bunney, joined in December 2015, and reached her target of 1st 7lb lighter in three months, also keeping to her target weight.

The group’s biggest recent success story is of couple David and Nicola Morgan, who have lost an amazing 11.5st between them in only 40 weeks. David has lost 7.5st and Nicola 4st.

Ms Cook said: “It’s not just the weight they have lost but the life they have gained, not just for them but also for their little boy Charlie, who has been discharged from his speech therapist and has achieved many awards in school.”

Speaking about how the pair signed up to Slimming World, she added: “David joined for health reasons and nagged Nicola to join as well.

“She stood outside the door for over an hour and wouldn’t come in, but with my encouragement she hasn’t looked back, and now they are all looking forward to their first holiday.” Executive coach travel (Supplied by Watkins Coaches) Nightly Entertainment Dinner, bed & breakfasts Return ferry Pembroke - Rosslare
