LOCAL businesses in Rhondda Cynon Taff have come together to raise money for young mum Amy Jones, who died of cancer earlier this year.

After being told the devastating news she had been diagnosed with the disease just three weeks before Christmas, Amy, from Merthyr Tydfil, made it her mission to complete everything on her bucket list.

The items on the list included meeting her favourite rock band, The Stereophonics, and going to Mexico to renew her wedding vows.

Sadly, Amy passed away earlier this year and was unable to complete many of the wishes.

Once the bucket list had gone online, her friends and family set up a JustGiving page in order to aid her wishes, with the hope that they could fulfil them for her.

At present, the page has reached just over £10,500.

Marcus Jones, owner of event-planning company Eventagious, is just one of the many people who have supported her family.

He said: “What can we do for the family? I simply could not do nothing.”

He had organised for her to renew her wedding vows with husband Chris, with the support of her sister and many other local suppliers.

But sadly, the set date for the couple to renew the vows, March 5, was the day that Amy died.

Marcus said once he had heard of Amy’s death, he immediately contacted the other suppliers involved in organising the wedding renewal asking them for ideas of what they could now do for the family.

Natasha, from Moments, Honeydew who was the photographer for the planned day, said her company was willing to do whatever they possibly could “for the beautiful, courageous woman”.

Porth company Belle Mariee Bridal has also got involved to help with the event, and the firm’s Alison Patterson said: “She was such an inspiring young lady and a fantastic mum. We wanted to do as much as we possibly could.”

The event is being planned in an attempt to raise even more money for the family, and will take place on June 11 at the Ty Newydd Country House Hotel in Aberdare – the original venue where Amy had wished to renew vows.

It will be free for all guests, including a free glass of champagne on arrival, and includes free gifts from different companies throughout the day, including Mustang Wedding Cars, Have a Little Sparkle, Proper Party Pics, Prices Wedding Cars, and more. her wedding
