A MOTORCYCLIST who died in a crash on Saturday was a loving family man who had been giving his free time to teach others, his widow said yesterday.

Heartbroken Dawn Beynon told how she had lost the love of her life in the crash that claimed the life of husband Andy, 52.

Mr Beynon – a muchloved husband, dad, granddad and brother – died at the scene of the collision on the B4268 in the Vale of Glamorgan on Saturday afternoon.

The incident involved his motorcycle and a Land Rover Freelander, and happened between Pentre Meyrick Cross and Llysworney – near Cowbridge – shortly after 1.55pm.

Mr Beynon, from Llanelli, has been described as a “loving family man” with a “giant heart”.

Mrs Beynon said: “Andy was the love of my life. We met when we were both teenagers and have been happily married for last 32 years.

“He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother – a family man – with many, many friends.

“He dedicated his time to help others and work tirelessly helping children with exceptional special needs.

“He always wanted them to be happy and was happier in the background doing all the hard work, organising and fundraising to allow others to enjoy the spotlight.

“The children utterly adored him – he just had that ‘special gift’ to make them smile.

“He always had [a] smile on his face and had a wickedly fun sense of humour, playing practical jokes whenever he could as he loved winding people up.

“He just had a giant heart and always wanted to give and never receive.

“Andy lost his life enjoying one of his many pleasures – riding his motorcycle.

“He was out that day giving his free time to teach others how to become a better rider. That was my Andy.

“We are all heartbroken as a family and our world will never be the same.

“We take comfort knowing that we all have such happy memories of how he lived his life and they will stay with us forever.

“We would like to take this opportunity to thank all the emergency services who attended the scene for all their efforts that day.”

Officers from South Wales Police are continuing to investigate the crash and urge any witnesses who have not yet contacted them to call 101, quoting reference 1700243818.
