Ladies enjoy successful weekend away
PONTYPRIDD GOLF CLUB, LADIES SECTION
JUNE has passed in a whirl of events, all of which have been made more enjoyable by the fantastic weather.
The Ladies Section enjoyed a great weekend of golf away at the Bell’s Hotel and Golf complex at Coleford in the Forest of Dean, which was all organised, both the golf and the accommodation, by the Lady Captain, Helen Ridgway-Pring.
In the first day’s competition, Sarah Putterill was third with 36 Stableford points, Ann Williams was in second place but first, with an outstanding score of 41 points was Vicky Jones.
Ann Williams and Sarah Puckerill both had twos, while the latter also won the longest drive and nearest the pin competitions.
On day two, Carol Beecher came fourth, Margaret Medlow was third, Sarah Putterill was second but the winner was Roz Jenkins. Ladies Club Competition Results
The Llewellyn Jones Cup: Winner – Vikki Jones (47 points. Handicap dropped to 29).
The Peter Green Salver: Winner – Ann Williams (37 points).
The Mary Lewis Putter: Winner – Ann Williams (74 nett).
The Tyfica Cup (Mixed): Winners – Saran and Richard Putterill.
Congratulations to Ann Williams, who is our only representative in the National Final of the Golf Union of Wales Bowl and Medal competition at Builth Wells on August 15.
Well done also to Christine Watkins, Helen Ridgway-Pring and Margaret Medlow, who played in the Regional Final.
Karen Parfitt and Barbara Willis are our representatives in the Australian Spoons regional final, to be played at Langland Bay on July 3.
The LGU Coronation Foursomes was won by Christine Watkins and Roz Jenkins, who will represent Pontypridd Golf Club at Cradoc Golf Club on Monday, August 14.
