-

EASYJET: INSIDE THE COCKPIT ITV, Monday, 9pm

THIS new three-part documentary series follows new recruits as they train to become fully qualified pilots.

British passengers took more flights last year than ever before, and the number of people travelling worldwide has increased.

However, there is currently a worldwide shortage of pilots. This year easyJet, the UK’s biggest airline, launched the largest recruitment drive in its history in an effort to find more trainees.

Their recruitment effort is focusing particularly on on encouraging more women to apply for this career, where females currently make only three per cent of pilots worldwide.

With unprecedented filming access, this twopart primetime series opens the door into the cockpit to follow rookie pilots as they take their first steps from the flight school classroom into the flight simulator, and eventually to their first flights on the airline’s large jets, ensuring the hundreds of paying passengers on board reach their destination.

With access to easyJet’s training partner L3 Airline Academy and their new recruits, the programme follows each step in the training of the budding pilots.

The trainees come from a wide range of backgrounds, but they will all need determination and dedication to fulfil their ambitions. Will the reality of their chosen career live up to the dream of flying high?
