Anna will sleep out for homeless

A PONTYPRIDD woman who fought against homelessness when she was younger is now looking to help make life easier for those facing the same situation as she did.

Anna James will look to do this by raising money later this year for homeless charity Llamau as part of their “Sleep Out” event.

That will see them spend a cold autumn night on the streets outside the Cardiff City Football Stadium along with hundreds of other fundraisers.

Anna, who now works for Trivallis, said: “There was a point in my life when I was homeless and I know how hard it can be. And now I’m in a better place it would just be nice to give something back.

“For an organisation like Llamau to come in and support someone, when no one else does, it’s bigger than most people would even know.”

It will take place this November, when Anna will be joined by colleagues from her employer, Trivallis, with all the money raised going towards providing the services for homeless young people in Wales.

As well as Trivallis staff, many different teams from across Wales are already signed up, including Principality, SET stationary supplies, Eversheds Sutherland, Archenfield Insurance Management and Sitka Recruitment.

And Llamau is calling on as many businesses as possible across Wales to sign up to this year’s “Sleep Out”, to help improve the lives of homeless people in Wales.

The event takes place every year, attracting up to 200 fundraisers to spend a night under the stars and build their own shelter at the stadium in Leckwith.

Throughout the evening, attendees are given a hot meal and drinks throughout the night.

There is entertainment from Welsh musicians on offer, a raffle and breakfast served from 6am.

The event will this year take place on November 2.
