New Co-op store marks a return to community
THE new Co-op opened in Cwmbach last week as the company marked its return to a community with links dating back to the 1850s.
Located at the old car dealership site in Canal Road, the store has already announced a number of good causes it will help, which include Hirwaun OAP and Women’s Aid RCT.
It opened on September 7, and on the day, local football side AFC Llwydcoed revealed their new kit, which has been funded by the company.
The opening follows an investment of over £500,000 and 20 jobs created in the area.
John Hillman, acquisition manager for the Coop in Wales, said: “The Co-op is moving forward with a clear purpose and momentum, and we continue to look for new sites where we can serve local communities and be at the heart of local life.”
Ben Williams, store manager, added: “We are delighted to have made such a significant investment in Cwmbach and we have received a fantastic response from the community – it is an exciting time for the whole team to be involved in the opening of Co-op’s newest Welsh food store.”
