New specialists join Nuffield Health
MR David Edwards, Dr Atir Khan and Dr Girish Patel have recently started working with Nuffield Health Cardiff & Vale Hospitals, in addition to their NHS roles.
Consultant orthopaedic surgeon Mr Edwards is a hip and knee specialist, consultant physician Dr Khan is an award-winning diabetes and endocrinology specialist while Dr Patel is a consultant dermatologist.
Appointed 11 years ago to his NHS consultant post with University Health Board Princess of Wales and Neath Port Talbot Hospital, David Edwards qualified at University Hospital of Wales. His main clinical interests are in hip and knee surgery, particularly joint replacement surgery. Mr Edwards joins a large team of more than 30 consultant orthopaedic surgeons also working privately at Nuffield Health Cardiff & Vale Hospitals.
Dr Khan joined University Health Board Hywel Dda nine years ago as a consultant. He has won awards for both a weight-loss management programme and for a diabetic foot service.
In addition to diabetes, his clinical interests are in thyroid, metabolic disorders, pituitary problems, adrenal, fibromyalgia, ME and chronic fatigue syndrome.
He is a member of the Joint UK British Diabetes Society. In addition to their NHS commitments, Dr Atir Khan joins Mr David ScottCoombes in the Endocrine & Thyroid speciality at Nuffield Health Cardiff & Vale Hospitals.
Dr Girish K Patel is one of five consultant dermatologists at Nuffield Health Cardiff & Vale Hospitals. He also leads the skin cancer research team at Cardiff University’s European Cancer Stem Cell Research Institute.
From October 12 to November 21, Nuffield Health will be hosting three free patient evenings about orthopaedics. These events represent opportunities to meet our expert consultants in hips, knees, foot and ankle, hands and spines.
During the evenings, potential patients can find out more about specific treatments and, where available there are complimentary one-to-one mini consultations. Places are limited so booking in advance is essential.
