ABERDARE TOWN ...... 1 CROESYCEILIOG ........ 2

ABERDARE remain perilously near the trap door following this fifth defeat in seven, though not without a determined display but with the absence of a cutting edge again apparent.

The new caretaker team of Gareth Harbord and Wayne Powell introduced two new faces into defence with Merthyr products, Rhys Williams returning after a few seasons and Matthew Glassey at right back.

Both were to have promising starts and look good acquisitions. To accommodate them Levi Jones and Josh Powell were pushed into midfield and things were to begin brightly with Rhys Tandy a threat out wide right and he was to be involved in the first clear chance cutting in to provide Ross Daniels whose neat pass into Seb Haggett saw the ball catch a divet as the striker made contact and balloon over the bar from feet out.

But this only spurred the home team into further forays into the Croesy defence and one such attack saw Lewis Holder fouled twenty yards out.

Up stepped central defender Matt Flynn and his stunning effort flew unerringly into the right hand corner of Jo Doidge’s goal.

Aberdare continued to dominate with a Haggett effort deflected wide and with a resultant flurry of corners unfortunately producing nothing.

Things were looking comfortable but with the home supporters looking forward to a pleasant half time cuppa, disaster struck with Town keeper, Clint Forbes misjudging an innocuous Mark Morris free
