Have your say on council budget
PEOPLE are being given the chance to have their say on how the council should spend its money.
RCT Council launched a consultation on Monday, which includes an online simulator in which residents can “set their own” budget.
Events will also take place for residents to air their views about the budget, investment priorities and the council’s approach to services.
The council will also use its social media accounts to keep residents informed about upcoming events and how they can take part.
The local authority says at the heart of the consultation will be how the council should tackle financial challenges ahead after the Welsh Government indicated a -0.2% decrease in funding for RCT for the next financial year. The consultation began on November 6 and lasts until December 18.
Councillor Maureen Webber, deputy leader of the council, said: “The consultation responses provide valuable feedback, which is then considered by cabinet when setting the budget.
“I would urge residents to take part in the consultation to ensure their voices are heard on the issues that are important to them.”
