WRU PLATE ROUND 2

-

DOWLAIS ....................... 0 PWLLHELI ................... 18

THIS cup match was marred by a serioius-looking kneck injury to the Dowlais hooker Marcus Lewis in the fifth minute.

The player could not be moved and the hour wait for the ambulance led to the match being moved to an adjacent pitch. This injury obviously had an effect on both teams but more so on the home team.

Pwllheli led by an Osian Parry penalty at half-time with the honours slightly in favour of the visitors.

Both sides were keen to run the ball but Dowlais were unable to breach the visitors strong defence.

The turning point came in the final quarter when the Dowlais centre was shown a yellow card.

Pwllheli used the the one-man advantage sensibly and scored two quick tries by Tom Parry and Robin Jones and a conversion from Osian Parry.

So from being just 3-0 down those costly 10 minutes put the visitors 15-0 in front, and game over for Dowlais, and to make sure, Osian Parry put a penalty over to make it 18-0 and secure a win by Pwllheli.

Both teams expressed their concern for the injured player and everyone whished Marcus a speedy recovery.
