Let’s be united by love and not hatred

- Neville Westerman Brynna

IS it possible that this recent Brexit outrage, self-opinionated and bad-tempered, whose view of anyone expressing a belief contrary to their own is a “traitor”, might help us all to recognise the dreadful power of the national gutter ress and television?

They cannot even distinguish between leavers who respect representative democracy, and remainers, because they have no interest in sincere opinions of other people, so, as a consequence which they cannot comprehend, end up completely ignorant about the whole subject. The defining clue is their inability to perceive or give an honest account of other viewpoints.

Not all Brexiteers display this emotional prejudice breeding hatred, but sensible Brexiteers should be alarmed that the mental vacuum of their bedfellows brings their cause into disrepute.

This is a demonstration of “populist thinking” across the world, the force which brought Donald Trump to power, which is the expression of bigotry of the worst kinds of emotions, anger and hostility, racism and contempt, united to a blank refusal to discuss or think. The whole strength of it is based upon a morbid hatred of Mexicans or Muslims, rather than any wish to cooperate with any nation. Honesty is the first casualty.

Psychology reveals that this hatred holds some humans together (as fascism and Nazism did in the past), just as love holds together a different type of person, of the opposite beliefs.

And one form of emotional loyalty is a lot more dangerous for the planet.
