Renationalise Welsh railways

- Andrew Nutt Bargoed

RECENTLY I witnessed a distressing scene, it looked like masses fleeing a war-torn country.

People crammed into train carriages, struggling for fresh air, wailing infants piled into the suitcase rack, frail pensioners slumped against the walls.

All riding on overpriced and out-of-date trains.

Rail fares have increased twice as fast as wages in the past ten years, according to research by the TUC.

Like Jeremy Corbyn, Plaid Cymru has campaigned to renationalise the railway.

Welsh Labour has a chance to turn the Welsh railways into a not-forprofit company, just like Welsh Water.
