Town are too strong for Coed

AFTER last Saturday’s very disappointing defeat at Garden Village, Ponty consolidated top spot with an impressive win over mid-table Llwydcoed.
With big Gavin Beddard starting the match it wasn’t long before his physical presence and skill notched goal number one.
However Llwydcoed hadn’t read the script and with ex-Pontypridd and Ton Pentre keeper “The Monk” in goal for the Coed he was keeping the Town out at one end and his striker team mate Carter equalised on 15 minutes.
The rest of play between the two teams made a fairly even game until top scorer Luke Gullick made it 2-1 quickly followed by a powering header by Beddard on 70 minutes.
James Hill wrapped it up on 84 minutes to make it 4-1. Pontypridd stayed top with some five games in hand on some rivals. All of Ponty’s promotion rivals dropped points and with only one league match against Abergavenny Town, it’s cup games for the rest of January.
