Thanks for joining dementia fight

-

i WANT to take the opportunity to thank local Alzheimer’s society cymru supporters who united against dementia last year by fundraising, campaigning and volunteering for us.

in 2017 people across the length and breadth of Wales contributed to Welsh Government’s consultation for their Dementia Action plan which we hope to see launched this spring. most importantly, many who contributed were people directly affected by dementia. We are extremely grateful for their time and for helping to shape this future policy; a landmark moment for people affected by the condition across the country.

in 2018 we will hold a conference to celebrate people affected by dementia and recognise their contribution in shaping our influencing work and also identify what should be on our agenda for the year ahead.

With more than 45,000 people with dementia in Wales the need to unite in the fight against dementia has never been more pressing. From volunteering with Alzheimer’s society’s new side by side service, joining one of our fundraising events or writing to your local Assembly member there are many ways people can get involved to help beat dementia in 2018.

The best gifts can’t be wrapped so whether you give an hour, a day or more, please visit alzheimers.org.uk/getinvolved to find out how you can unite against dementia.

Sue Phelps, Country Director for Alzheimer’s Society Cymru
