PAIRS COMPETITION FIRST ROUND

THE latest action in the Merthyr & District Darts League saw the first round of the Pairs Competition take place with some dramatic action and fantastic games.

Would it be double delight or double trouble as the players started out on their journey to the second round and then hopefully onto the Grand Finals. The path to glory starts here and it’s a long rocky road ahead. Who had the darts and the nerve to last the first lap and who fell short at the first time of asking?

VENUE: GUEST KEEN BOWLS CLUB

THE opening game here saw the VNU duo of Clive Powell and Steve Darlow edging past Dowlais Con Club pairing of Mark Thomas and G Thomas by a 2-1 margin and the second contest saw the two venue favourites, Andrew Rough and Mervyn Matthews of the Baili-Glas B face the Grawen guys of Phil Locke and Steve Thomas with the Baili boys securing a stunning 2-0 victory.

The first semi-final saw the VNU face the Baili with Clive and Steve giving a good account of themselves before going out to their more experienced opponents.

The second semi featured John Terrett and Phil Morris of the Merthyr Vale Ex Club B against Nigel Owen and Jonathon Evans of the Penydarren Social Club A with the Daggers duo just shading the match 2-1.

The final was a well fought contest which saw the Baili duo deservedly
