WORTHINGTON’S MERTHYR & DISTRICT DARTS LEAGUE
SINGLES COMPETITION FIRST ROUND
THE First Round of the Singles Competition in the Worthington’s Merthyr & District Darts League for the 2017/18 season produced a night of great action with a few surprises along the way with a few fancied players failing to make it through.
VENUE: RED LION
HOME favourite Dai Richards was into the action early overcoming the challenge of Wayne Morgan from the White Horse in a hard fought starter.
The first of the semis saw Roy Evans of the White Horse beat Mark Roberts, who travelled up from the Silver Bullet, by a 2-0 margin and in the final he would face another boy from the Bullet, Mark Birch, who overcame the opposition of Dai Richards in a tight contest.
The final saw the White Horse lads celebrate with “Rocking” Roy Evans booking his place in the second round.
VENUE: VNU
PHIL Williams of the Guest Keen Bowls Club A was in great form in his semi-final here hitting 5x100, 140 in a 2-0 win over Kevin Morgan of the Rose & Crown.
The final was another good game but unfortunately for the former Summer League Singles Champion his 3x100 fell short as Merthyr Labour Club’s Rob Evans 2x100, 2x125, 68 out won the game 2-0 and earned himself a place in the second round.
VENUE: WHITE HORSE (MAIN BOARD)
FOLLOWING a great night of action two old foes and old friends met in the final which saw Peter “The Great” Locke of the Ye-Olde Express beat his great mate Adrian “The Yank” Thomas 2-0 in a great game.
VENUE: MERTHYR EX CLUB
A HIGH class venue here which included former Summer League Champion Gareth Dunn of the Merthyr Labour Club and darting legend Alan Mee of the Baili-Glas A.
