Council confirms waste services for Easter break
RUBBISH collection services over the Easter Weekend have been announced as Rhondda Cynon Taf Council continues its drive to increase recycling.
RCT council said there will be no change to kerbside recycling and waste collections during the Easter holidays, but asked residents to park sensibly so collection vehicles have access during the busy time.
Several recycling centres will also be open over the bank holiday ready for any spring cleans.
Rhondda Cynon Taf Council’s cabinet member for environment and leisure Councillor Ann Crimmings said: “New rules come into effect from June 4, 2018, to help the council hit the Welsh Government’s target of 70% of waste being recycled by 2024/25.
“The majority of households are already supporting a greener future with an estimated three out of four households already recycling and Easter provides the ideal opportunity for anyone not already doing so to make a ‘Clear Choice’ and put Easter egg boxes and plastic – plus any other recyclables – in a clear recycling bag instead of the bin.
“We are committed to doing all we can to reduce the amount of waste which isn’t recycled and will continue to invest for the future to ensure we have the schemes, high-quality vehicles and easy-to- use facilities that people rely upon to recycle.”
The following recycling centres will be open over the bank holiday; Treherbert Industrial Estate; Cymmer Road, Dinas; Ty Amgen, Llwydcoed; Nantygwyddon Road, Gelli; North Road, Ferndale; Treforest Industrial Estate; Llantrisant 100% Recycling Centre, Pant-Y- Brad Road off Heol-Y- Sarn.
All centres are open Monday to Sunday 8am to 7.30pm from March 26, 2018, to October 28, and Monday to Sunday from 8am to 5.30pm over the winter season.

2024/25 the council will be introducing new rules from June 4, 2018 – by reducing households’ fortnightly black bag allowance. A ‘no side waste’ rule will be introduced for households with wheelie bins, and a two-bag limit for those which don’t, reduced from the current allowance of four.
