PREMIERSHIP BEDWAS .................. 31 CARDIFF ................. 27

A LATE Mike Callow try sealed a dramatic victory for Bedwas against Cardiff in the Principality Premiership at the Bridge Field.

The hosts opened the scoring as Matthew John forced his way over in the corner and Steffan Jones added the extras.

Cardiff hit back with a Gareth Thompson penalty but Bedwas responded instantly through an Andrew Waite try.

Cardiff winger Llywarch ap Myrddin then collected a pass following a Dan Fish break and Thompson kicked the conversion to close the deficit to just the two points shortly before half time.

John notched his second, and Bedwas’ third, try of the afternoon just shy of the hour mark and Jones added the conversion.

Blue and Blacks scrum-half Geraint Watkin then crossed for a try with Thompson’s conversion closing the deficit back to two points once again before great play from Bedwas skipper Alun Rees saw him touch down and earn the bonus point for the hosts, Jones successfully converted.

Thompson notched a penalty before crossing for a try, which he converted, to put Cardiff ahead but Bedwas heads didn’t drop and Callow broke through some poor tackles to crash over for an unconverted try, which secured a dramatic late victory. Scorers – Bedwas: Tries: M John (2), A Waite, A Rees, M Callow; Cons: S Jones: (3).
