DOWLAIS ..................... 40 NELSON ....................... 14

FROM the kick-off Dowlais attacked the Nelson line and hooker Chris Williams forced his way over, Steve James converting. Nelson hit the restart straight to the Dowlais back line, the ball was worked to wing Jake Howard who waltzed over in the corner.

Jake Howard was over again after a brilliant move by the backs. You could’nt take your eye off the game with Dowlais carving chunks out of the Nelson defence. A forward drive saw second row John Davies cross for the try bonus point and all this before half-time, James adding the extras.

Nelson finally woke from thier slumber to score a well worked try, to make the score 26-7 at the break.

The second half saw Nelson using their pacey backs and added their second converted try. Nelson were having their best period of the game and looked threatening every time they had the ball, and it took some strong defece from Dowlais to keep their line intact.

Dowlais absorbed the pressure and finished off the game with two converted tries, a length-ofthe-field break with all the backs involved and Steve James touching down under the posts, and then captain Dan Snape adding the final try, both converted by Steve James.

This performance is something that Dowlais are capable of, but we have not seen much of it this season. The pack was superb with captain Dan Snape leading by example.

Dowlais are home on Saturday to high flying Penallta (KO 2.30pm).
