Danny Evans was the star show of the show for at Croesy, first taking 6-49 to help bowl Miskin out for 211 before then smacking an unbeaten 82 to help his side knock off the runs required with five balls to spare.

Father-and-son duo James (60) and Travis Morgan (66) both hit half centuries as Newbridge reached 279 before being bowled out.

However that total proved to be enough as Brecon were all out for 252 in reply with Thomas Watkins claiming four wickets.

In Division Two Monmouth, who are chasing back-to-back to promotions, returned the summit in style after beating Blackwood Town by 117 runs in their top-of-the-table clash.

A knock of 82 from skipper Adam Roberts helped Monmouth reach 220-5 off 50 but visitors Blackwood, are themselves aiming to return to Division One at the first time of asking, then struggled with bat in hand.

They could muster 103 before being sent back with Sam Swingwood taking 3-23 as Monmouth went four points clear. Crumlin’s push for the top two took a hit as they went down to a seven-run defeat to Gwent rivals Rogerstone Welfare while Lisvane, helped by a century from opener Rob Williams (112), beat Whitchurch­Heath by 21 runs to move up above Crumlin and into third.

Division Three leaders Creigiau were four-wicket winners at Pontymiste­r & Cross Keys. Chasing 251 for victory, the visitors got there with three balls to spare helped by 94 from Dafydd Taylor and 50 from Hywel Nicholls. Creigiau are six points above Sully Centurions – who were five-wicket winners at Barry Wanderers.

Newport thirds remain in charge in Division Four after beating Undy & Magor by 38 runs – their 10th win of the season.

Opening pair Pravin de Silva (54) and Sujeewa Senarathne (65) got Newport off to the perfect start as they put on 108 for the first wicket.
