Change to green waste collections for winter

-

COLLECTiONS of recyclable green waste will be changing from November 5.

During the winter months, when demand for the service is lower, green waste collections will be picked up fortnightly instead of weekly – on the same day but not at the same time as black bags and bin waste.

Green waste is collected by a separate vehicle and is unlikely to be collected at the same time of day as your household waste or recycling. Residents are asked to leave it at the kerbside and the crews will collect it as soon as possible.

From December 10, residents can book kerbside collections of real Christmas trees between December 31 and January 11. They won’t be automatically collected so booking is essential.

The fortnightly green waste collection service will be suspended from Saturday, December 22 until Sunday, January 13.

This will help accommodate the increased demand on the service for general and food waste recycling and Christmas tree collections. Normal fortnightly green waste collections will resume from Monday, January 14.

The full green waste service will return to weekly collections from March 4.
