The cheapest street in Wales

THE least expensive street in the country has been revealed.

The street – in Mountain Ash – has an average property price of just £28,000.

THE most and least expensive streets in Wales have been revealed – and there’s more than £900,000 between them.

In 2018, the average home in Wales’ most expensive street – North Parade, Aberystwyt­h – cost almost £1m.

This compared to Wales’ least expensive street – Tyr Felin Street in Mountain Ash – where the average property price was £28,000.

Half of this road is filled with terraced homes while the end is surrounded by a grassy hill.

Several other Rhondda Cynon Taf streets featured in the list. The second cheapest was Edward Street, Ferndale, with an average price of £30,000.

Located near the village of Maerdy, there are plenty of amenities including a community centre, park and shops. One side of the street is terraced houses, overlookin­g a hill.

Number three on the list is Dunraven Street in Tonypandy, where the average price is £31,000. Nestled in the heart of the town, there are plenty of shops within a quick and easy walk.

At number six is Brynbedw Road in Ferndale, with an average price of £36,950. Running along the edge of Tylorstown, the road overlooks the Valley, with terrace homes on one side.

Another Ferndale road features at number seven on the list, with an average price of £38,000. Just around the corner from Brynbedw Road, the street runs through Tylorstown.

At number eight is Griffith Street, Ferndale. Just a quick walk from Maerdy, the street features rows of terrace houses near to the park. It has an average price of £38,000.

Finally at number 10, it’s West Taff Street in Porth, with an average price of £39,500.

Near the railway station, the road overlooks the line, with a band of terrace houses on the other side.

The most expensive road in Wales in 2018 was North Parade in Aberystwyt­h, averaging £950,000 from three sales. The street isn’t far from the Royal Pier on the beach, perhaps adding to its value.

As well as residentia­l properties, North Parade also has a host of bars and restaurant­s, as well as a farmers market hosting up to 30 stalls every first and third Saturday in the month.

The prices were based on data from the Land Registry, which lists the price paid for every residentia­l property bought at market value which are then registered.

It includes buy to let sales, repossessi­ons, and property bought through companies.

Across the UK, most expensive street in England and Wales in 2018 was Grosvenor Crescent in Belgravia, London, where homes go for an average of £33.1m.

There were 1,246 streets in England and Wales where the average price was £1m or more, down from 1,458 in 2017, and 1,451 in 2016.

The least expensive street in England and Wales was Harrogate Lane in Stockton-on-Tees, where flats sold for an average of £16,415 in 2018.
