A private reservoir set within 17 acres in the hills above Mountain Ash is set to go under the hammer next month.
The guide price for the one-off lot, being sold on behalf of a local private owner, has not been revealed yet.
The unique water feature has uninterrupted views of the valley below and includes the original water tower.
Paul Fosh, owner of Newport-based Paul Fosh Auctions, said the new owner could use the site for various uses.
He added: “The reservoir is in a stunning rural location and may offer a new owner scope for a number of alternative uses such as development, tourism, infill and industrial use or even as a massive water feature, all subject to planning permission.
“The elevated site, which overlooks the town of Mountain Ash in the former mining area of Rhonnda Cynon Taff, has stunning 360-degree views. It’s a unique property for the person looking for something really different.”
It is the first time the auctioneer has had a reservoir for sale.
Paul said: “This could quite simply be the ultimate status symbol. The former reservoir and grounds cover some 17 acres and also includes the original water tower. Just think what fun you could have with that little lot.

The former reservoir will be offered for sale at Paul Fosh Auctions on Thursday, August 1, at The Cardiff North Hotel, Llanedeyrn, Cardiff, starting at 5pm.
