MS waits to hear about any further action after drinks row
A SOUTH Wales MS is still waiting to hear if any further action will be taken following the Senedd drinks row.
Labour MS Alun Davies had the party whip removed in the immediate aftermath of the allegations of drinking alcohol in the Senedd and a possible breach of coronavirus rules.
An investigation by the Senedd Commission found there had been a possible breach of regulations and referred the matter to Cardiff council.
Mr Davies was one of four Senedd members allegedly involved in the drinks row.
Since the allegations first came to light...
Welsh Conservative party leader Paul Davies (Preseli Pembrokeshire) has resigned, to be replaced by Andrew RT Davies as Tory leader.
Tory MS Darren Millar (Clwyd West) has resigned from his front bench role.
Tory MS Nick Ramsay (Monmouth) has resigned from his Shadow Cabinet role.
The row started after it was claimed Senedd Members had been drinking alcohol in the Ty Hywel building on December 8 – four days after the Welsh Government’s alcohol ban came into force at 6pm on Friday, December 4.
Blaenau Gwent MS Davies said last week: “I am very sorry if my actions have given the impression that I am in any way not committed to upholding the regulations which I have consistently supported throughout the last year.
“I have been suspended from the privileges of membership of the Welsh Labour group until an investigation is complete. I continue to fully support the Welsh Government’s important efforts to keep Wales safe.
“The Senedd Commission has already confirmed to me that I did not breach the coronavirus regulations on the consumption of either food or alcohol that were in force at that time.
“I have also confirmed to the commission that the regulations on the number of people present and on social distancing were not breached either.
“I look forward to the commission’s final conclusions on this matter.”
