Tributes to a ‘loving son, father and brother’

TRIBUTES paid to a father, and died after Aberdare.

Jamie Owen, from Cadoxton, Neath, died after being hit by a black Ford Transit van on the A4059 on Saturday, January 16.

The 43-year-old, who worked for a maintenanc­e company in Neath, was described as a “valued and respected member of the team”.

A family tribute said: “Jamie was a loving son, father, and brother and will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him. We as a family are finding comfort in hearing about have been “loving son, brother” who a crash in how well thought of he was by so many people.

“We remember with fondness the many years he worked for a local maintenanc­e company in Neath and was considered as such a valued and respected member of the team. He loved being out working within the community and meeting many people was his passion.

“We would like to take this opportunit­y to thank all the emergency workers at the scene who tried so hard to help him.”

South Wales Police officers are investigat­ing the circumstan­ces of the crash which took place at around 10.50pm between the Trecynon roundabout, known locally as the chicken factory roundabout, and the Robertstow­n roundabout.

The driver of the van, aged 30, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving and has since been released under investigat­ion.

Anybody who may have witnessed the incident or anyone who may have dash camera footage or who may have seen either the pedestrian or Ford Transit Custom van prior to the incident is asked to contact 101 and give reference *018269.
