The WalesOnline Tech Awards 2021 gives gold standard recognition of the ingenuity, passion and skills of businesses and individuals from across the Principality.
We want to hear from those embarking on their career, leaders, innovators, established businesses – in short, we want to recognise you.
Launched in 2017 as the WalesOnline Digital Awards, the annual showcase is this year sporting a fresh look, a virtual format and a plethora of categories, including Young Tech Talent, Female Tech Talent, Innovation In Education
Award, Healthtech Pioneer Of The Year and Tech Team Of The Year (see below for more details).
The awards come as Wales begins to emerge from the Covid-19 pandemic, a year which highlighted the importance of the digital market (think home working, think Zoom meetings).
And it’s also a time when tech start-up firms and established digital businesses are working together closer than ever before, pooling ideas and talents.
And, of course, traditional businesses like manufacturing, construction and food are using technology to boost their productivity.
Media Wales business editor Sion Barry said: “These awards will again showcase the excellence that exists in Wales’s fast-expanding digital sector, from established innovative firms and entrepreneurs driving impressive market share, to exciting start-ups with huge potential for growth.
“For the Welsh economy to thrive in an everincreasing digital world, where advances in automation
will radically change how we live and work, we need a sector that is not only vibrant, but fleet of foot to exploit the huge commercial opportunities that arise.
“It is hoped that the finalists and winners of the WalesOnline Tech Awards 2021 will encourage a new wave of businesses and innovators to follow in their footsteps.”
As in previous years, an expert panel of judges will sift through nominations, with tech once again coming to the fore as digital meetings are still the order of the day.
And, of course, the awards ceremony will be held virtually.
Event details
■ The Wales Online Tech Awards 2021 will take place as a virtual ceremony on Thursday, June 10. Anyone can attend: details of how to join will be released soon.
Tickets are free – all you need to do is register online. Tickets will be made available at the start of May.
