UNLIKE other parts of Wales, Rhondda Cynon Taf is known for its affordabil­ity and has even been said to be the least expensive place to buy a house in the country.

It is also a UK hotspot for renovation­s, with almost 20% on the market at the moment including the term “recently renovated”.

According to RightMove, the average properties sold in the last year in RCT were terraced, with an average sale price of £102,745. Semi-detached properties sold for an average of £155,143 and detached properties fetched £269,718. The average overall property price in the area is £144,751.

But some properties in the area go for far more than the average, so if you have a bigger budget and are looking to get more for your money than you would in the likes of Cardiff and other cities, or you simply want to want to imagine your dream home, we have taken a look at the most expensive properties for sale right now.

Talygarn, Pontyclun, £1,250,000

The only home in the area that would set you back over £1m is this beautiful equestrian property with 55 acres of paddocks, woodland, private riding and an eight-acre lake with a working water wheel, two islands, balustrade bridge, ducks and swans.
