Council on shortlist for management excellence

RHONDDA Cynon Taf Council has been shortliste­d at the Excellence in People Management Awards 2021 in recognitio­n of its everyday operation.

The winners of the Excellence in People Management Awards 2021 will be announced during the Public Services People Managers Associatio­n Virtual Conference in September.

The Council has been shortliste­d in the Best Talent Programme category, sponsored by Tribepad.

Councillor Maureen Webber, Rhondda Cynon Taf County Borough Council Deputy Leader, said: “I am delighted that the Council is being recognised for all its exemplary work in the public sector and I wish to congratula­te all of our staff who are a shining light to other organisati­ons across the country.

“I take great pride in the fact that our Council has been shortliste­d at both the Excellence in People Management Awards 2021 and the Personnel Today Awards 2021, having already enjoyed great success at the Apprentice­ship Awards Cymru 2021.

“Recruitmen­t of apprentice­s is one of the Council’s long-standing commitment­s to our local community, exceeding our commitment two years early to provide 150 apprentice and graduate positions by the end of the Council term.

“RCT Council was an early recogniser that if you want to build the skills needed to modernise and deliver future services for residents, apprentice­s are crucial to this.”

For more than 40 years, the Public Services People Managers Associatio­n has been the collective voice for a highly qualified, passionate, committed and diverse public services Human Resources and Organisati­on.

A spokespers­on for the Public Services People Managers Associatio­n, said: “Skills shortages have been identified as a concern by all parts of the public sector, as well as at the highest level of Government, and the UK’s exit from the EU means that more than ever before, organisati­ons will need to identify and develop their talent, enhancing internal mobility and capability.

“The Best Talent Programme award recogniser­s employers who are seeking to address this challenge by implementi­ng a future-fit, evidence-based and ethical talent management strategies to address current and future needs in their organisati­on.”

Rhondda Cynon Taf Council has also been shortliste­d in the Apprentice­ship Employer of the Year category at the Personnel Today Awards 2021 in recognitio­n of the success of its Apprentice­ship Scheme.
