Major win for Llantwit as they profit from reds

-

LLANTWIT Major maintained their unbeaten record in the JD Cymru South league as they made the most of two red cards for hosts Trefelin to win 5-2.

Having taken the lead in the sixth minute with a goal from Kris Evans they then saw Jordan Davies dismissed for the home side in an incident that led to a penalty.

Cullen Kinsella stepped up and missed.

Lee Jones made it 2-0 at the break with a second strike before the 10-man home team got a goal back from the penalty spot by Joe Clarke.

Four minutes later Connor Goldsworthy replied with a penalty for the visitors and two minutes later Clarke scored again to keep the game in the balance.

But a second yellow card for Clarke reduced Trefelin to nine men for the final quarter-of-anhour and Ben Murphy and Kinsella made the game safe for Llantwit with two more goals.

League leaders Pontypridd Town had no problem in staying top of the pile as they hit five goals in another big win over Undy Athletic.

The big three goalscorers at Ponty all got in on the act again – Luke Gullick and Sam Johnson both got two each and Gavin Beddard got one.

Port Talbot Town are still waiting for their first goal of the season after going down 6-0 to Llanelli Town, while Goytre United were convincing 3-0 winners at home against Cambrian & Clydach Vale thanks to two goals from Tim Parker.

Mark Jones made it six goals in a week for Briton Ferry Llansawel as he knocked in two of his side’s goals in a 6-1 win at Afan Lido.

Those goals came on top of a hat-trick against Cwmbran Celtic and a midweek strike at Risca United as his contribution to 17 goals for his club in three games.

Risca United played out a 1-1 raw with Taffs Well, while Cwmbran Celtic were 3-2 winners at Ammanford, where Tom Meechan was the hero with an 83rd minute goal that won the game after the home side had levelled two minutes earlier.
