PACK YOUR phone(PHONE) CASE

THESE ACCESSORIES WILL HELP YOUR PHONE MAKE HOLIDAYS EVEN MORE FUN

- CONNOLLY Technology Editor

YOUR smartphone is your best friend when you jet off on your travels this summer.

It’s your navigation device, your camera and your entertainment system – so look after it and make the most of it with these essential accessories.

FLIGHT PHONE MOUNT Cost: £26.99

They say: Compact and lightweight enough to take anywhere. Perfect phone holder when flying. We say: Chances are you’ll only get back-of-the-seat video on long-haul flights, so if you’re going somewhere closer you’ll need your own entertainment system. And let’s be honest, the screens and audio on the built-in video units on planes are rubbish anyway.

Best to download what you want to watch to your before you go and snag one of these – it clips to the top of the drop down table, and holds your phone securely at a much better viewing angle than the stands you can get for the table itself.

SAFEGO PORTABLE SAFE Cost: £57.49

They say: Heavy-duty flexible steel cable to securely lock around almost any fixed object. We say: You might not want to take your phone into the water with you when you go for a swim, but you certainly don’t want to leave it unprotected on the beach.

That’s why a portable safe makes sense. This one has earphones and charger access, which allows you to listen to music or charge your devices while securely locked.

PHOOZY APOLLO PHONE CASE

Cost: £25.50 They say: This award-winning phone case is the first and only sleeve to help protect your device from overheating in the sun. We say: One of the big issues when you’re travelling to hot counties (or cold for that matter) are operating temperatures outside your phone’s tolerances.

If your smartphone gets too hot it’ll shut down until it cools down. Cold conditions mean faster battery drain. That’s why a case like the Phoozy is essential on the beach or in the mountains.

Its makers claim it uses “NASA spacesuit technology”. That might be going a bit too far, but it’ll certainly protect your device from extreme temperatures. It will also float if you drop it in water, for easy retrieval.

BOKHOM POWER ADAPTER

Cost: £27.99 They say: Small and lightweight, perfect for your worldwide travelling. We say: There aren’t many places that you can travel to where this won’t allow you to plug in and charge up any devices. It’s compatible with plugs in more than 150 countries (including Europe and the US). You can charge four devices at the same time with the added three built-in USB ports.

ANKER 325 POWER BANK

Cost: £39.99 They say: With PowerIQ technology and USB-C ports, high energy density and compatible with iPhone, Samsung, and more. We say: One thing you don’t want at the beach or out in the wilds is to run out of juice. This highpower battery bank from Anker can charge your iPhone or Android device up to four times, and an iPad mini twice over. It also has two outputs allowing you to charge two devices at once.

GRIPTIGHT PRO 2 GORILLAPOD

Cost: £69.95 They say: Grip it, wrap it, stand it with the GorillaPod 1K Stand as a base, you get those peachy unlimited angles.

We say: The GorillaPod is still the travellers’ best option when it comes to a tripod – you can put it almost anywhere with its flexible legs, and also use it as a selfie-stick.

It’s robust enough to withstand the rigours of the road, too.
