-

RHONDDA Cynon Taf Mayor Wendy Treeby has visited the Wales Air Ambulance base to show her support as one of her chosen charities this year.

She met with staff and medics to thank them personally for the vital service they provide 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Her nephew Tim Manfield is a consultant with the Wales Air Ambulance team.

Cllr Treeby said: “It was a great pleasure to visit the airbase and personally thank all involved with Wales Air Ambulance for the service they provide.

“I now have a much better understanding on the function of the Wales Air Ambulance, the helicopter, the importance of good ground staff and how the funding is essential.

“The services of Wales Air Ambulance is regularly called upon across Rhondda Cynon Taf, often arriving at the scene within minutes, at a time when every second counts.

“I have supported Wales Air Ambulance for many years. I started collecting money for the charity at Pembrey motor racing circuit and raised thousands of pounds there.

“I have seen first-hand the Wales

Air Ambulance in action and the functions that they offer have developed over the years and they are a vital part of every community.

“Anyone of us, or our loved ones, may need to use this vital service at some time in our lives, which is why it is one of the many charities I am supporting during my year in office.”

Cllr Treeby is also supporting Stroke Association and Green Meadow Riding for the Disabled, as well as the Armed Forces.
