Saints just one victory from retaining their title

SW PREMIER LEAGUE CRICKET

ST Fagans are just one win away from retaining their South Wales Premier Cricket League crown.

The Saints are six points clear at the top of the table following their nine-wicket win at Bridgend Town.

Their bowlers laid the platform for victory as they skittled Bridgend for just 89. Zac Williams claimed 4-13, with Harry Donelan and Owain Hopkins bagging two wickets each.

Alex Hinkley (41 not out) and Callum Nicholls (39 not out) then steered St Fagans home in the 21st over.

Swansea are six points behind in second after their nail-biting six-run win over Cardiff.

It looked bleak for the St Helen’s side when they were all out for 132. Much of that was down to Cameron Hemp’s patient 57. Tegid Phillips took 3-24. But Cardiff found runs equally hard to come by as Swansea skipper Brad Wadlan tore through the order to finish with 6-23, with the hosts eventually falling just short.

Newport are 15 points off top spot, but still have a mathematical chance of taking the title after winning by 10 runs at Neath.

After being put into bat, Newport were all out for 202. Jack Hope-Bell top-scored with 37, while Gavin John took 3-34.

Tom Cullen scored an unbeaten 97 as Neath went in pursuit of their target, but he found support hard to come by as the hosts were dismissed for 192.

Callum Taylor was Newport’s chief threat with 3-31.

Pontarddulais’ good run of form came to an end as they lost by 94 runs at home to Port Talbot Town.

Liam Davies led the way for the visitors with 42 as they were reduced to 184 all out. Richard Grant took 3-32 for Bont.

Opening bowler Lewis Jones was the star for Port Talbot as his 5-29 helped reduce Bont to 90 all out.

Clydach are destined to finish bottom of the table following their 137-run defeat at Ammanford.

Xavier Clarke top-scored with 82 as Ammanford reached 290-5. Daniel Roberts added 79 and Kurtis Marsh 54.

Clydach opener Steff Davies offered his side some hope with a 41-ball 52, but his dismissal triggered a collapse and they were all out for 153.

Owen Davies claimed the impressive figures of 6-43.

Ynystawe are 10 points clear at the top of Premier League 2 after beating Carmarthen Wanderers by six wickets.

Nearest challengers Pentyrch lost ground after only tying their game with Mumbles.
