Six Nations tickets available to buy online – for up to £130
WALES’ 2023 Six Nations tickets went on public sale on Friday, with the top tickets against England costing fans £130 – the most expensive tournament tickets in history.
Wayne Pivac’s Wales host both England and Ireland at the Principality Stadium on February 25 and February 4 respectively.
Supporters have already been able to access tickets for both matches through WRU member clubs, so public sale availability is likely to be limited.
The Welsh Rugby Union has decreased prices for the Principality Stadium’s alcohol-free zone in category D (£80 for Ireland and £90 for England) while entry-level tickets remain frozen at £40, but prices have risen in some categories and go as high as £130 for the top-priced tickets to watch
Wales v England. The full range of prices for the first-round meeting with Ireland is £40, £80, £105, £110 and £120, while for the third-round meeting with England prices start at £40 and move through to £90, £115, £120 and £130.
Tickets are not expected to be available for public sale in all categories, with many of the topprice tickets being snapped up first.
It comes after tickets for Wales’ home Six Nations games in 2022 became the most expensive, priced at £115 for the top tickets after an increase of £10 across three ticket categories as a direct reflection of financial pressure caused by the Covid pandemic.
Before that, the most expensive Wales Six Nations tickets had been the £110 tickets to watch Wales’ bouts with England and Ireland during a Grand Slam-winning campaign in 2019.
Wales will play all of their matches in Saturday afternoon slots. The controversial Friday night slot has been ditched for 2023, with around 10,000 seats being left empty in Cardiff this year when
Wales hosted France.
“Demand is as high as ever, with many categories already selling out and tickets only set to reach public sale in limited amounts, if at all,” said WRU group commercial and legal director Rhodri Lewis.
“Our advice to supporters is always to contact your local club in the first instance, but there are other things you can do to increase your chances of being able to get hold of a ticket to see Wales at this year’s Guinness Six Nations.
“Debenture holders are of course guaranteed access to all home matches but, once they and clubs have been given first right of refusal, official supporters club members have access to purchase up to two tickets for England or up to four tickets to the Ireland game.
“Supporters are encouraged to act as quickly as possible to avoid disappointment.
“All proceeds from Welsh international tickets are fed directly back into the game in Wales.
“Whilst price increases have been necessary for some of our highest-demand fixtures, we have also wanted to provide as wide a choice as possible of ticket prices and customer offerings across our full 2022-23 fixture list.”
The Six Nations public sale coincides with Autumn Nations Series tickets going on sale, with almost half a million tickets to watch Wales in Cardiff being made available.
Wales face New Zealand, Georgia, Argentina and Australia in Cardiff during the autumn. A family of four will be able to watch Wales face Georgia for as little as £30 per family.
