Pontypridd United picked up their best win of the season to date as they notched up a 3-1 home win over Caernarfon Town in the JD Cymru Premier.

The North Walians will be ruing missing a penalty in the 14th minute that would have given them the lead, with Dion Donohue the guilty party.

Pontypridd went on to edge their way into a 1-0 advantage at the break thanks to a Joe Evans strike.

Darren Thomas levelled matters on the hour mark before Jarrad Wright regained the lead at USW Sports Park for the home side.

It was nervy from there on over the final 16 minutes and there was a sting in the tail.

Thomas saw a straight red in the second minute of added time before Lewys Twamley set up Danny Williams to settle matters in the 95th minute and make it 3-1.

Ponty hit the woodwork twice during a game that saw them claim their third win in nine games since coming up from JD Cymru South in the summer.

“I’m absolutely delighted with the result and we had to work for those three points,” said Ponty boss Andrew Stokes.

“In the end our desire got us over the line.

“Now we have laid down a marker and hopefully it can continue.

“We’ve taken seven points from our last four games.

“It’s the first time we’ve scored three goals, two of which came from set-plays, and that’s back-toback home wins.

“Consistenc­y is now the key in our performanc­es from here on in.

“We had a lot of change in the summer and we knew it was going to take time to settle.”

Cardiff Met got back to winning ways thanks to a brace of firsthalf goals from Lewis Rees that gave them a 2-1 home win over Aberystwyt­h Town.

Alex Darlington pulled one back for the visitors in the 80th minute.

Harry Franklin grabbed the goal that moved Connah’s Quay Nomads up into second place as they made it three league wins in a row with a 1-0 victory over Haverfordw­est County.

Bala piled on the misery for Airbus UK Broughton as they gave the home side six of the best to leave them reeling with an eighth defeat in just nine matches in the top flight since returning as champions of JD Cymru North during the summer.

The Lakesiders were ruthless from the start and raced into a 4-0 lead by the break with goals from Luke Wall, two from George Newell and then another from Chris Venables on the stroke of half-time.

Adam Roscrow made it 5-0 two minutes from time before Newell completed his hat-trick in the last minute.

Newtown found themselves three goals down inside half an hour at Park Hall as The New Saints piled on the pressure.

The reigning champions saw goals from Declan McManus, Dan Davies and Josh Daniels give them a commanding lead before one of their old players, Louis Robles, made it 3-1 at the turnaround.

Things could have been very different had Aaron Williams converted a penalty in the 76th minute, but he missed.

Then Adrian Cieslewicz wrapped things up with a fourth home goal a few minutes later.

It was 1-1 at the Essity Stadium as Flint Town United held Penybont.

Teenager Harry Owen gave the Silkmen the lead in the 27th minute before Ryan Reynolds levelled just before the break.
