Ammanford get set for Bony

AMMANFORD got ready for their top-of-the-table showdown with unbeaten Bonymaen by coming from behind to beat Bridgend Athletic in Admiral One West Central.

They conceded three tries in the first half and trailed 17-6. But they conjured up a try from full-back Elis Lewis that Ryan Williams converted to bring it back to a onescore game.

They ran in three more tries to end up with a bonus point and a 34-17 triumph. Wing Mike Rees, Lewis again and scrum-half Jonny Evans crossed the home line and Williams converted two to end up with a 12-point haul

They now trail Bonymaen by four points, but could overhaul them if they win at home this weekend with a bonus point.

Bony extended their unbeaten run to five games with a 31-5 home victory over Brynamman.

In One North, Nant Conwy won the battle of the top two unbeaten teams as they triumphed 22-13 over Ruthin at home.

They currently lead the table by five points from Caernarfon, who are also unbeaten and have a game in hand.

Caernarfon were level at 7-7 in the first half against COBRA before pulling away after the break.

Gareth Pritchard scored in the opening period for the home side and Iolo Hughes (2) and Rhydian Williams followed suit.

Guto Pierce added three conversion­s and a penalty to make it 29-14. COBRA grabbed a consolatio­n try near the end.

In One East, Newbridge made it five bonus-point wins in a row to remain unbeaten at the top. They won 32-22 at Bedlinog as they prepared for their top-of-the-table clash with Penallta this weekend at the Welfare Ground.

Penallta are only six points back in second. They won 41-21 at home against Dowlais.
