Christmas comes early as man decks his halls and fish tank
A MAN who loves Christmas spent a whole week turning his house into a winter wonderland.
As soon as Halloween was over, Naylan Dane Thomas took down his pumpkins and spent days working on the perfect Christmas display that resembles a Santa’s grotto.
The house, in Lanelay Park, Talbot Green, was transformed over six days following Halloween, ready for a big light ‘switch-on’.
This is the second year that 31-year-old Naylan has decided to deck his house with extravagant trimmings following the coronavirus pandemic.
“It was down to the hour, we had invited everyone around for us switching it all on. I just love Christmas and I love doing this for my friends and family and we have a lot of children in this area that walk around from school who love to see it.
“My partner says he hates it because of how much effort it takes but I know he loves it when it is all up. We like to go overboard because we are on the main road and people love it.”
Naylan, who works in reservations and reception at the Miskin Manor Hotel, didn’t want to let the increase in energy prices put him off the decorations this year so has put money aside throughout the year to make sure there is enough to cover the lights. The decorations are of such importance to Naylan that they take up a whole storage shed at their home.
“We have an outbuilding attached to our house, and they all get taken down and put in there before New Year and that stays shut all year, there is no room for anything else.
“I would keep it up all year if I could!” Naylan added. Naylan has even decorated his fish tank with garden gnomes, which he sealed with a fish-safe sealant as it was the only thing in his living-room he couldn’t find a way of decorating.
