ETHAN Cann’s 19th goal of the season kept Llanelli Town riding high in JD Cymru South as they won 1-0 at Carmarthen Town.

His 16th-minute strike maintained the five-point gap at the top.

With four games left to play – two fewer than second-placed Briton Ferry Llansawel – the title could come down to the result of their final fixture at home against their closest rivals

The Ferrymen got out of jail at home against Abertillery Bluebirds thanks to a 94th-minute goal from Corey Hurford that earned them a 2-1 win. The Bluebirds had led when Iwan John struck in the 65th minute.

The home side levelled via a Joe Jones goal 10 minutes later, but Hurford had the final say.

Afan Lido dented third-placed Ammanford’s title push as they went to the Recreation Ground and won 4-2. Ieuan Owen gave the visitors the perfect start with a goal after two minutes, but Adam John responded for the home side to make it 1-1 at the break.

Lido’s Sean Hanbury then struck twice. Tristan Jenkins got one back from the penalty spot in the 88th minute to set up a frantic finish, but Cai Owens had the final say for the visitors four minutes into added time when he fired home a penalty.

Llantwit Major drew 1-1 at home with Cwmbran Celtic. Cian Williams scored in the 40th minute for the hosts, but Lewis Iles snatched a draw at the death.

Pontardawe Town were beaten 1-0 at home by Trefelin.

In JD Cymru North, the top three teams all won at home. Airbus UK Broughton were 2-0 winners against Llanidloes Town, Holywell Town were 3-0 victors over Denbigh Town, while Flint Town United triumphed 7-0 against Ruthin Town.

An own goal from Alex Worton in first-half added time gave Airbus the lead, but it wasn’t until near the end when Craig Lindfield came up with his 14th goal of the season that the league leaders made the game safe.

Two goals in the space of three minutes around the hour mark set the Wellmen on their way. Jamie Breese and Gareth Evans were the scorers and Beau Cornish added a third in stoppage time.

Josh Jones scored a hat-trick for Flint to make it 20 league goals this season, while Elliott Reeves picked up two more as he moved to 24.
