A MAN who videoed himself sexually assaulting a woman has been jailed for 10 years.

Attacker Dean Jones, then told his victim that nobody else would want her after what he had done.

A court heard the 34-year-old defendant’s victim had been left suffering with anxiety, depression, and post-traumatic stress disorder.

Jones, of Mill Street, Tonyrefail, had previously been convicted at trial of sexual assault by penetration.

He has previous convictions for driving with excess alcohol and public disorder.

Tim Evans, for Jones, said his client had given evidence at trial and the jury had made its decisions and, as the defendant’s barrister, he could not go behind that.

He said Jones wanted this to be the last time he appeared before any criminal court let alone a crown court.

Judge Catherine Richards sentenced Jones to 10 years in prison.

He must serve two-thirds of that sentence in custody before being released on licence to serve the remainder in the community.

Jones was made the subject of a 10-year restraining order banning him from contacting his victim and will be a registered sex offender for the rest of his life.

Speaking after the sentencing at Swansea Crown Court, South Wales Police detective inspector Chris Evans said: “Tackling this type of offending is a priority within South Wales Police and due to the strength of the victim in providing their evidence officers were able to gather the evidence to convict Dean Jones.

“We urge any victims of this type of offending to report it to police.”
