Wait for it Kell, says Khan
AMIR KHAN wants a “winner takes all” showdown with British rival Kell Brook – but claims he will get fi rst shot at Floyd Mayweather jnr or Manny Pacquiao after their May 2 super- fi ght.
Brook successfully defended his IBF welterweight title against Jo Jo Dan on Saturday but Khan says the Sheffi eld fi ghter remains a nobody in America.
“Kell Brook was saying he wants to forget about Amir Khan, he wants to fi ght Pacquiao and Mayweather,” said Khan. “But these guys don’t know who Kell Brook is. Regardless of being a world champion, he’s just a name to them.
“But straight after the fi ght I saw him calling me out, getting really excited.
“It will happen one day, and if Kell really wants to fi ght me, I’ll fi ght him but the winner takes all. That’s how confi dent I am against him.”
Khan, who has fought just twice in the past two years, is set to name his next opponent soon.
“It’s all about timing,” he said. “If I want to face the likes of the Mayweathers or Pacquiaos out there, then Kell Brook will have to wait.”
Meanwhile, Andre Ward says he would be happy to give Carl Froch a rematch in the UK – but not in his Nottingham hometown.
Ward, who outpointed Froch in Atlantic City in 2011 to unify the WBC and WBA crowns, said: “I’ve accepted his invitation to come to the UK but it’s going to be on the right terms.”
