Bruzas, from Walton- onThames, admitted the murders after pleading not guilty earlier. He will serve a minimum of 33 years.
He was arrested in nearby Oxshott 18 hours after the attacks. He was described as “calm and composed” as he asked police: “How long do you get for murder in this country?”
Bruzas had made threats against Mr Kettyle and was issued with a police notice in January last year. Mr Kent said: “He held Patrick Kettyle responsible for ruining his life.”
Bruzas was a “successful and skilful” builder who was offered a job by Mr Kettyle, who ran a construction business. Mr Kettyle also gave Bruzas’s former wife work as a book- keeper.
Mr Kent said: “Patrick Kettyle was clearly a very charming man. It seems the defendant’s wife began to talk to Patrick Kettyle about the state of her marriage. She would complain that the defendant was a violent and controlling man.”
Mr Kent added: “Patrick Kettyle would flirt with her and she would flirt back.
“It may be that it was that that gave the defendant’s wife the confidence to stand up to her husband.”
Bruzas became aware of these “flirtations” when he viewed his wife’s email account.
In 2012, he drove to Mr Kettyle’s home in the early hours of the morning and shouted at him, saying: “Why are you trying to take my wife away from me?” A threat was sent by email in October 2013, in which Bruzas said: “My family going to sort out.”
Following that message Mr Kettyle reported the situation to police, who issued Bruzas with a police information notice.
Mr Kent said the victims’ family, who were in court, had decided not to write an impact statement because “words can’t explain the grief”.
