Edwards lifts Wolves

WOLVES moved into the play- off positions in dramatic fashion after Dave Edwards’ 88th- minute winner heaped misery on Leeds.

Kenny Jackett’s team climbed up to sixth after edging a topsy- turvy match to make it four successive wins – despite gifting their opponents three goals.

Boss Jackett said: “We are delighted to be in there. We are still in with a shout for automatic promotion so let’s see.”

11th- minute opener but Nouha Dicko’s fi nish eight minutes later levelled matters.

Dicko bagged a second on the stroke of half- time with a venomous long- range strike in off the post before strike partner Benik Afobe lashed home his 29th of the campaign.

It looked game over but two more defensive errors let Leeds back in as Danny Batth cleared Alex Mowatt’s cross into his own goal before the winger punished Richard Stearman’s wayward pass with a stunning curler. Substitute Edwards, left, then won it for Wolves with a fi ne header.

When asked if he expected to be Leeds boss for the last fi ve games, Neil Redfearn replied: “Unless I am told any different.” But he added: “It’s wrong to think about me, the club is far more important.”
